 -Skills Recognition
Did you know you can receive a qualification without undergoing formal training?

Skills Recognition is a process that allows you to seek and gain recognition for your skills, no matter where or how these were acquired. It could be through work experience, education, training or life experience.

When you apply for Skills Recognition you compare the things you have learnt with the requirements of the units in the course.   Skills Recognition can give you many benefits and opportunities. If you can demonstrate that you have already achieved the outcomes of the unit in a qualification, you can be given recognition for that and you may not need to attend classes.

Skills Recognition processes include:
• Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
• Recognition of current competencies
• Credit transfer
• RPL for entry
• Overseas equivalence
• Subject exemptions

For more information, ask your lecturer about the Skills Recognition process.

 -Numeracy and Literacy Support
Numeracy and Literacy assistance is available at Kimberley Training Institute, enquire when enrolling. If you would like some help with your studies then our Open Learning Centre might be the answer. We will work with you to help develop the specific skills required for your course such as reading, writing, maths, computing and organisational skills.  Ask our front office staff, or call to enquire about Underpinning Skills in Industry Qualifications (USIQ).
 -Fees Summary
Fees for 2014 will vary according to the type of course you are studying. Priority training areas have been identified (apprenticeships and traineeships, priority industry qualifications and foundation skills courses) which will have lower fees than other qualifications. Higher level qualifications (Diploma and Advanced Diploma) will allow income contingent loans for eligible students, enabling you to study now and pay later, when you're working. If you want to learn more about how fees are calculated, visit the Department of Training and Workforce Development's Future Skills website: http://vetinfonet.dtwd.wa.gov.au/FutureSkillsWA/Pages/Home.aspx .

VET FEE-HELPis an income-contingent loan scheme that assists eligible students to pay for all or part of their Vocational Education and Training (VET) tuition fees when studying one or more eligible VET courses. Kimberley Training Institute is an approved VET provider under the VET FEE-HELP Assistance Scheme. VET FEE-HELP is only available for higher level Vocational Education and Training (VET) - diploma qualifications and a trial of approved Certificate IV courses.
